Premier’s Literary Awards

In 2008 the Premier's Literary Awards included a new award of $15K for Best Music Theatre Script, supported through the City of Literature initiative and recognising the importance musical theatre in the arts.

State Government's contribution to the Awards is among the highest of any government in Australia and with further support through the City of Literature Initiative, plans are underway to increase the international significance of the Awards.

In 2009 the Wheeler Centre: Books, Writing and Ideas took over the management and presentation of the Premier's Literary Awards from the State Library of Victoria.
