Regional Partnerships Program

The Regional Partnerships Program supports local councils in regional Victoria that provide professional arts and cultural programs through their galleries and arts centres. It offers a total of more than $12 million over a four year period. The program was launched in March 2006 and by the end of 2007, 20 councils had joined the program and many others that did not have those facilities were examining ways they could participate through co-operative arrangements with their neighbours.

These four councils were selected because of their commitment to delivering high quality arts and cultural programs - the high priority they give to the arts in council planning, the significant financial investment by each council, professional staffing and innovative artistic programs at each facility.

The fifth case study focuses on the Wangaratta Performing Arts Centre, the first capital works funding delivered through the MoU process with links to the Regional Infrastructure Development Fund (RIDF) which has $20 million available for arts projects.
