Latest arts development grants announced
Date: 19 January 2012
From local festivals to literary projects, cutting edge theatre to contemporary dance, Victoria's arts sector is set to get an injection of new ideas thanks to the latest round of Arts Development grants announced today by Premier and Minister for the Arts Ted Baillieu.
Mr Baillieu said the latest grants invest in Victoria's artistic talent, enable new ideas to be realised and will contribute to the State's reputation as a vibrant and dynamic place for the arts.
"Victorians have an extraordinary appetite for new ideas, and our arts sector is known for innovation," Mr Baillieu said.
"The Arts Development program harnesses this energy, supporting Victoria's independent professional artists and arts organisations to bring their ideas to life - from initial concepts, through to their first public performance or release."
Mr Baillieu said the latest round provides $675,500 to support 54 projects across the State.
"From a production about suburban netball to a physical theatre work to be performed on trams, the diversity of this round reflects the stunning diversity of arts practice in this State."
"Arts Development is our most competitive arts funding program and I congratulate the latest recipients on the high quality of their applications, their exciting ideas and for the contribution they make to Victoria's arts scene," Mr Baillieu said.
"I look forward to seeing these projects come to life over the next year and adding to the amazing variety of arts experiences on offer across Victoria."
The next round of applications for the Arts Development program closes on 27 February 2012 for activities starting on or after 1 July 2012.
