Dave Arden

Dave Arden is a songman who belongs to the Gunditjmara clan in Western District Victoria and the Googatha people of South Australia. He is a prolific and accomplished musician who has played for more than two decades alongside many of Australia's music greats including Archie Roach, Kutcha Edwards, Shane Howard of Goanna, Crowed House, Hunters and Collectors and Wedding Parties Anything.

In 2006, Dave, along with Shane Howard, co-produced Tarerer - Welcome To Country. This concert and CD showcased the music of Indigenous and non-Indigenous artists of south west Victoria - Gunditjmara and Kirrae-Wurrong country. The project was a cross-cultural initiative to facilitate deeper understanding of contemporary Aboriginal life, local culture and history.

In the same year, Dave and Shane shared the role of Musical Director of the Black Arm Band production, murundak in the Melbourne International Arts Festival.

Dave has spent most of his career writing, performing, touring, and producing with Indigenous and non-Indigenous musicians. He has added his own voice and stories to Indigenous musical history. His latest CD "Kookatha/Gunditjmara Clan" was launched at the Port Fairy Folk Festival in March 2008.
