What is an RSS feed?
RSS is most commonly known as "Really Simple Syndication" or "Rich Site Summary" they are a summary of any new items to a site.
RSS feeds update automatically and give subscribers a quick and easy overview of new content on their favourite sites.
RSS feeds provide varying levels of information, from just a heading which links through a new full page, to story summaries, multimedia pictures, video or audio and in some cases full articles. Arts Victoria's RSS feed displays an overview, a picture and a link for more information.
How do I find RSS feeds?
Sites that utilise RSS feeds will display the RSS icon -
in the title bar of your browser or within a page. On the Arts Victoria website, you will see the RSS icon on the right hand side of a page.
How do I 'subscribe' to Arts Victoria's RSS feed?
Save the feed as a bookmark
To save the feed as a bookmark click on the RSS icon. This will take you to the live feed, where you will have the opportunity to subscribe.
Via a 'Feed Reader'
If you subscribe to a number of different feeds, you may wish to download a stand-alone RSS feed reader which will act as an inbox for all the feeds you subscribe to. Feed readers are software that is avaliable for free adn can be downloaded from the internet. To find a feed reader, simply type "Feed Reader" into your favourite search engine.
