Arts Funding Data

Statistical overview on Arts Victoria's funding outcomes including portfolio expenditure, ongoing operational funding and project funding to arts organisations.

Victoria's Key Arts Organisations

Arts Victoria provides ongoing operational support to a wide range of non-government arts organisations.

These organisations are major deliverers of cultural programming in Melbourne and regional Victoria. They provide employment and professional development opportunities for artists; create, present and foster new work; engage the community with artistic, public and education programs; support and strengthen their sectors or artforms; and ensure that all Victorians have access to the arts.

Since 1994, Arts Victoria has collected comprehensive information from the organisations it recurrently supports through the Victorian Arts Industry Checklist. Organisations report on an annual basis on measures such as employment, volunteering, membership, income and expenditure, attendance and programming.

The resulting data is used by Arts Victoria to help identify and track sector needs, monitor policy outcomes and assist with future program and policy planning. It also provides a good snapshot of the Victorian arts industry.

Project Grants Data

Arts Victoria supports the arts and cultural industries to encourage excellence, develop good ideas, build audiences, encourage participation and improve facilities.

This support is delivered through targeted programs.

This section presents data on the number of applications funded and amount awarded, by program and location.
