In 2009-10, 37% of all Victorians aged 15 years and over attended an art gallery or museum.
In 2010, attendance at 31 Victorian museums and galleries funded by Arts Victoria was 2 million.

- 26% of Victorians aged 15 years and over attended museums in 2009-10. Of these nearly, 15% attended four or more times.
- In 2010-11, total attendance at Museum Victoria's three public venues was more than 2.3 million.
- The State collection at Museum Victoria is valued at $505 million.
Employment
- In 2007, 16,900 Victorians were employed in public art galleries and 8,700 in museums in either a paid or voluntary capacity.
- Museums rely heavily on volunteers for their operations. In June 2008, there were 4,700 volunteers working in Victorian museums and galleries.
- In 2010, 1,630 volunteers provided 77,000 hours of service to 31 Victorian museums and galleries funded by Arts Victoria.
