From the Minister for the Arts
The Victorian Government aims to stimulate and support the unique strengths of arts and cultural activity across the state. An integral part of this is improving the visibility
of the regional arts sector. The Arts Accordion follows the successful
arts catalogue Breath of Fresh Art and continues to encourage regional
artists and arts organisations to document their work while illustrating
the exemplary quality and distinctive nature of work supported by Arts
Victoria under the Commonwealth Regional Arts Fund.
The Arts Accordion
takes the format of a concertina inviting you to travel across the regions
of Victoria. The concetina unfolds to reveal a select number of arts projects
profiled from over eighty supported through the Regional Arts Fund over
the past two years. Hear from the artists and directors as they share
their artistic insights and discuss the critical success factors for their
projects. Their reflections have provided the basis for the text accompanying
the images. The catalogue also features advice and tips on documentation
techniques.
The Arts Accordion
plays an important role in identifying the plethora of physical and intellectual
art resources located in regional Victoria and in raising awareness of
the ideas and the specific issues that concern our various regions. I
encourage all regional artists and arts organisations to continue to support
their work with high quality documentation and further the notion that
professional arts practice in regional Victoria is worthy of our attention.
