CINARS 2002 Arts Market, Montreal |
| |
November 2002
Volume 3, Issue 2
Victorian artists will take centre stage at the 2002 CINARS
Performing Arts Market, Montreal, Canada from 19 to 23 November
2002.
CINARS is widely regarded as the leading international market
for the performing arts in North America, with the advantage
of also attracting strong participation by European presenters.
The tenth edition of CINARS is expected to draw over 500 delegates,
including leading festival directors and presenters from more
than 40 participating countries including Germany, Singapore,
China, Spain, Canada and the United States.
A key element of Arts Victoria's strategy for CINARS 2002 is
the development of an international promotional tool, Detour
- An Export Guide to Victoria's Performing Arts. This will
contain information on 35 small-to-medium performing arts companies
with new work available for touring over 2002-2004.
Detour is targeted at international festival directors
and venue programmers, and in addition to CINARS 2002, will
be distributed at the Asian Arts Mart in Singapore in June 2003.
Victorian participation at CINARS 2002 includes Strange Fruit,
Victoria's leading outdoor theatre company; Circus Oz, Australia's
pre-eminent contemporary circus company; along with a showcase
presentation by the Melbourne Theatre Company of 'Bombshells'
by award winning playwright, Joanna Murray-Smith.
Ensuring an ongoing Victorian presence at CINARS is part of
a longer-term export push into the North American market co-ordinated
by Arts Victoria.
