The Victorian Premier's Literary Awards |
| |
November 2002
Volume 3, Issue 2
The 2002 Premier's Literary Awards is shaping up as one of the
most successful awards night ever.
The State Government is committed to ensuring that the Victorian
awards remain at the forefront in recognising excellence in
writing and in developing Australian writing and publishing.
This year a new Award for Screenwriting will be introduced.
This Award has strong industry support and Village Roadshow
will provide the prize money for the next three years.
In its inaugural year, nominations for the Screenwriters Award
will be drawn from writers of film and television productions
that have been produced in Victoria in 2001/02.
In future years, the Screenwriters Award will be consistent
with other Victorian Premier's Literary Awards and will be selected
by nomination from any Australian writers for screen whose work
is produced in the preceding year.
The 2002 Awards presentation will be held on Monday 11 November
in the Famous Spielgeltent, which will remain in the Victorian
Arts Centre forecourt after the Melbourne Festival.
Max Gillies will be the MC for the event and a keynote address
will be delivered by Richard Flannagan, award-winning Australian
author of One Hand Clapping and Gould's Book of Fish.
