Message from the Premier and Minister for the Arts
Communities connected by caring. An economy driven by innovation. Education as a lifelong opportunity.
These are the values of Victorians, values which depend on creativity as a social resource, a sound investment and an essential aspect of our lives.
Nothing illustrates the creative strength of our society as clearly as our cultural life. Our dynamic arts sector imbues every aspect of our lives with imagination and a sense of connection. The arts make a vital contribution to our economy, stimulating creativity and attracting tourists. We are all enriched by our engagement with a creative community.
Creative Capacity + is this Government's commitment to developing our arts and culture for the wellbeing of all our citizens. A creative society is integral to Growing Victoria Together, our vision for Victoria's future.
We are committed to community. We know a democratic society is a place where everyone can express themselves and feel a sense of belonging.
We are committed to innovation. A society rich in creativity is stronger economically, better able to think flexibly, to adapt to changing circumstances and to meet the challenges of the future.
We are committed to education. The potential of children and adults must be nurtured and developed, not just within our schools but through a well resourced network of libraries, museums, galleries and arts centres that offer lifelong learning to every Victorian.
We are committed to creating places which are welcoming and attractive, both for our own citizens and for the many visitors who are drawn by the exciting cultural life of this State.
Victoria has a unique heritage and a strong foundation as an innovative cultural centre. The arts are critical to our future cultural, economic and social development.
Creative Capacity + builds on our current strengths to create a cultural life for all Victorians which is vibrant and inclusive.
