This category brokers and supports creative partnerships between arts organisations and Victorian schools. Priority is given to smaller schools with a high proportion of socio-economically disadvantaged students.
Taking place over a minimum of two schools terms, Extended School Residencies seek to:
- Generate engaging and challenging learning experiences in the arts and across the curriculum.
- Expand opportunities for arts organisations to work in collaboration with students, teachers and school communities.
- Provide professional development opportunities for teachers and artists.
Eligibility
Organisations
The program invites expressions of interest from Victorian arts organisations that have a history of working collaboratively with schools or communities.
It is strongly recommended that applicants contact the program manager before submitting an expression of interest.
Schools
Eligible schools will be identified by the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development and invited to submit an expression of interest.
Shortlisted organisations will be matched with a school by Arts Victoria and the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development to develop a project proposal.
Closing Dates
To be confirmed.
It takes approximately 4 weeks from the closing date to be notified if an expression of interest has been shortlisted for further consideration.
Funds Available
Six Extended School Residencies are funded per annum. Funding of up to $35,000 is available for each school.
Funding may go towards artists' fees, casual relief teacher fees and other direct project costs. Limited additional funds may be available to regional schools to cover travel expenses.
The program is assisted by the Australian Government through the Australia Council, its arts funding and advisory body and by the Victorian Government through the Community Support Fund.
There are five stages to the application process:

- Once matched, the school and the arts organisation meet and collaboratively design a partnership project.
- The school submits a detailed project proposal to Arts Victoria.
