Applying for Funding
If you would like to apply for funding, please go to the Funding Programs page to see which program might suit your needs.
You must obtain and read the relevant program guidelines and application forms before submitting an application. These are specific to each program and outline what you need to do to submit a proposal. Please take into account the program submission and notification dates, and allow yourself adequate lead-time for project planning, development and delivery.
Applications will not be considered outside the stated timeframes. Arts Victoria receives more funding applications than we can support. You should not make any financial commitment on the expectation that you will receive funding.
The success of your application ultimately rests on the merits of your proposal against published criteria and in competition with all other applications in the funding round.
Assistance with Grant Applications
Arts Victoria's public information is available on request in a variety of formats including large print, braille and audio, and can be accessed electronically via this website or by emailing us at artsvic@dpc.vic.gov.au. Services such as TTY and Translating and Interpreting Services are also available.
If you require disability-specific services to present your application to any Arts Victoria program, please contact the relevant program manager as soon as possible.
Conditions of Funding
If your funding application is successful you will be required to sign a funding agreement with Arts Victoria. This will outline the conditions associated with your funding.
At the conclusion of your funded activity you will need to complete an acquittal report that evaluates the project and accounts for how the funds have been spent. An acquittal report template is provided by Arts Victoria. If you have received funding of $20,000 or more you must also submit a financial report which includes an opinion or certification from an independent auditor or otherwise qualified Certified Practising Accountant.
If you do not satisfactorily acquit your grant you will not be eligible to apply for further Arts Victoria funding.
Your Legal Responsibilities
If you apply for a grant you must ensure that the activity that is the focus of your application complies with relevant statutes, regulations, by-laws, mandatory codes and requirements of any Commonwealth, State, Territory or Local Authority.
It is your responsibility as a professional artist and/or arts organisation to be aware of laws and protocols that regulate the way you must conduct your work. These laws may include, for example, classification and censorship, Indigenous Cultural and Intellectual Property, privacy issues, employment law, working with children and laws governing filming in public.
We strongly recommend that you seek the advice of your agent, legal counsel, or contact the Arts Law Referral Service (Tel: 1800 221 257) for referral to a solicitor. A good starting point may be to consult the Arts Law website.
Successful applicants are required to sign a funding agreement with Arts Victoria that specifies that grant recipients, in carrying out their funded project or activity, must comply with the laws of the land.
